Adam Watts

Background

Adam graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 having completed a Bachelor of Laws. After some extensive travelling and spending six months as a Project Officer at Western Power, Adam joined McLeods as an Articled Clerk in 2011 and was admitted to practice on 18 December 2012.

Since that time, Adam has practiced in a wide range of civil litigation and specialty local government areas. Adam has appeared as Counsel acting in civil and criminal court proceedings in all Western Australia jurisdictions.

Adam has also contributed and authored articles for various publications, including the Local Government Reporter.

Experience

Adam regularly represents clients in both civil and criminal jurisdictions particularly in relation to rate and debt recovery matters, recovery of real property disputes (i.e. leased premises), regulatory prosecutions, contractual and commercial disputes.

Adam’s experience in legal practice in summary includes:

  • Appearing in court and acting for local governments in relation to rate and debt recovery matters.
  • Appearing in court and providing advice on contractual and commercial disputes.
  • Providing strategic advice and guidance to clients and local governments on commercial and contractual disputes.
  • Review and advise on commercial and rental lease disputes, including appearing in Court on related proceedings.
  • Advising local governments in civil court proceedings in relation to rate recovery, disposal of uncollected goods and contractual disputes.
  • Acting for clients in recovery of debts, including statutory and judgment debts.
  • Preparing and advising on court documents and civil proceedings.
  • Preparing legal costs taxation documentation and appearing in court for bills of costs taxations.
  • Providing advice and strategic guidance to local governments on a broad range of local government, planning and property law matters.
  • Drafting agreements, including settlement of commercial disputes and related documentation.
