BACKGROUND
Peter graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours. He joined McLeods in 2003 and has practiced in all areas of local government and planning law providing advice on matters including administrative law, liquor licensing and interpretation of town planning schemes and other legislation. Peter was made an associate of the Firm in 2006.
Peter has appeared as counsel in a range of jurisdictions including the Magistrates Court, District Court, State Administrative Tribunal, Liquor Licensing Court and the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. He has particular expertise in local government law enforcement and environmental law and has conducted seminars in regard to a variety of legislation including the State Administrative Tribunal Act 2004, the Criminal Procedure Act 2004 and the Dog (Restricted Breeds) Regulations No 2 2002.
EXPERIENCE
Peter’s experience in legal practice includes:
• Conducting numerous prosecutions for local governments in the Magistrates Court covering planning, building, health, parking and local laws.
• Defending appeals against local government prosecutions in the Supreme Court.
• Lodgement of objections on behalf of local governments in the Liquor Licensing Court.
• Representing local governments in the State Administrative Tribunal.
