BACKGROUND
David was first admitted to legal practice in 1997 after completing articles of clerkship at Parker & Parker (now Freehills). He was then employed by the Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law and Administration in Developing Countries as a researcher in the Indonesia-Netherlands Study on Environmental Law & Administration, a bi-lateral research project funded by The Netherlands Royal Academy of Sciences and the Ford Foundation.
David returned to legal practice at McLeods in 2004 and since that time has continued his interest in environmental law whilst gaining experience in the full spectrum of the firm’s local government practice including property and commercial documentation, planning appeals, prosecutions and general advice. He was made an associate of the Firm in 2006.
EXPERIENCE
David’s experience in legal practice includes:
• Providing advice in regard to contaminated sites, the clearing of native vegetation and other environmental and heritage matters.
• Drafting planning scheme amendments with a particular reference to conservation zoning.
• Appearance as counsel in the State Administrative Tribunal and conducting prosecutions for local governments in building, planning, parking, health and dog related matters.
